Be The Change You Want To See

There are moments in life where we feel the need for change.

Whether this is in relation to our personal lives, health, jobs, or society in general—this need can build to a feeling of overwhelming exhaustion. We see the change in our minds, but the result or goal feels so far beyond us that we are left sitting in the back of the classroom, instead of being in front of the rest of the class, setting an example.

I find that we often lose touch with why we got into this creative world in the first place. The love we have for it. It wasn’t a competition, it wasn’t a means to an end, it wasn’t a burden. It was a labor of love. We loved being part of a community. A family. Whether it is through church, sports, the arts, or the perfect workplace—we all crave that sense of community. When I decided to start Ghost Theatre, I visualized what it could be. The community it could create. We are still very early in the process, but I am excited for the future.

Creative ventures aside, I want us to find a way to come together. Enjoy plays, discuss films, laugh with each other. When we see a great film or a tremendous play, or even a visit to the art gallery, we remember the content that we consumed but the more vivid memory is the company we kept. We remember who we experienced it with, what we talked about after, and the desperate desire to do it again.

I don’t just want Ghost Theatre to be a place for interesting and captivating art. I want it to be a sanctuary for the happiness of an artist, an audience member, humans as a whole.

Whether this dream comes to fruition or not, I cannot imagine living life having not tried.
